Anyone who's been on 10 in the last 10 or 15 years knows that 28.400 +or - is the first frequency everybody uses when the band opens up

At least the numbers all end in 5's.

Makes them easier to tune in.

I was being serious a recognized calling frequency I don’t mean as in the Ssb or Fm one for example.

    BJV:

You are not making any sense! If by not meaning as in the case of SSB or FM, then what do you mean?

Since you have a General Class license, you are not restricted to the 28.300 MHz to 28.500 MHz using CW or SSB ONLY as are Novice Class and Technician Class licensees.

The accepted "calling frequency" for SSB on 10-meters IS 28.400 MHz. For FM the "calling frequency" for North and South America is 29.600 MHz. Especially for Asia (you can work a LOT of Japanese stations on this frequency when the band is open), the "calling frequency" is 29.300 MHz.

It’s a calling frequency for some group that I can’t recall the name of it’s not a ssb calling frequency where you initially call and then move off
