    Brent Alan Sheffer, age 61, of Westerville Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday March 30, 2019. He was born on November 7, 1957 in Canton Ohio to the late Dwight and JoAnne (Dennis) Sheffer. He was a 1975 graduate of Canton South High School and received his BSBA in Finance/Accounting in 1979 from The Ohio State University. After a successful accounting career, he decided to go to law school and graduated from Capital Law School in 1990 with a Juris Doctor. As an attorney and a CPA his practice emphasis was on tax, real estate, corporate and probate law. He passed the bar in 1990, was sworn in to the United States Tax Court in 1991, the United States District Court (southern district) Ohio in 1992 and the Supreme Court of the United States Court in 1995. His memberships included being an advisor for Junior Achievement, 1980-1985, Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Seminars, 1985-1991. He was on the entertainment committee German Village Oktoberfest, 1986-1996. He was a member of the Board directors Ohio 4-H Foundation, 1975-1977 and a member of advisory committee, 1988-1990. He was on the Board directors Columbus Jaycee Youth Foundation, 1985-1991, 93-97. He was Legal counsel to Columbus Flight Watch, 1993-1997 and served as a director, 1997-2000. He was a member American Bar Association (tax committee since 1990), the Ohio State Bar Association, the Columbus Bar Association (tax committee since 1990), AICPA as well as the Institute of Management Accountants. He was a member of the Ohio Society Certified Public Accountants (Ohio accountancy board liaison 1991-1993), the American Association Attorney-Certified Public Accountants, Columbus Junior Chamber of Commerce (director 1985-1988, 90-91, 93-97, he was awarded the Presidential Achievement award in 1986 and the Membership award 1987. He was newsletter editor 1993-1994, president 1996-1997, and board chairman 1997-1998, awarded JCI Senatorship 1997). He belonged to the Sports Car Club American (chairman membership 1982-1983, regional executive 1984-1985, director Columbus 500 Road Race operations 1987-1988, received the Regional Executive Worker award 1983, Regional Executive award 1984, the Regional Race Worker of Year award 1988, the Jim Trueman Memorial Tro phy 1988) and the Ohio State University Sports Car Club (president 1978-1980). He was also a member of Phi Delta Phi (charter committee 1988, treasurer 1989-1990, alumni chairman since 1990). His love of service led him to be active with the Central Ohio Amateur Radio Emergency Service as a Ham radio operator and the National Rifle Association as a Life Member. He was very active in the Men's Bible Study at his church. He enjoyed reading, sports car racing, rallying, bicycling with the Columbus Outdoor Pursuits and skied with the Columbus Ski Club. Brent is survived by his wife, Hillary (Taylor) Sheffer; his brother Scott (Beth) Sheffer; and his nephews, Duncan and Graham. Along with his parent he is preceded in death by his sister, Linda (Sheffer) McDonald. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 13th at Faith Covenant Church, 3607 Dempsey Road, Westerville from 9:30-11 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m..
