RE: Yue's Reference claiming "LANGUAGE ABUSE "

For those with interest, my seminal source patent on "FRACTAL ANTENNAS AND FRACTAL RESONATORS" clearly defines a 'fractal antenna' as a self similar structure with 2 or more iterations. NOT an infinite number of iterations.

I didn't ABUSE the language. I DEFINED the invention of 'fractal' antennas to remove any future ambiguity on the meaning.

BUT...if people don't make an attempt to READ, then they feel compelled to distort the facts, apparently.

Here is the language used in that first, and other, patents:

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Using fractal geometry, the antenna element has a self-similar structure resulting from the repetition of a design or motif (or “generator”) ....

The present invention provides an antenna having at least one element whose shape, at least in part, is substantially a deterministic fractal of iteration order N≧2.

If you missed it, here's is that NBC news story on the ripoff of cloak technology from the lab at Duke....

IMO, this is the principle person responsible with retrofitting PRC jets with the stealth skins.

This could be a huge benefit to reducing RADAR reflective cross-section in stealth-type aircraft. Perhaps it will help improve EMI/EMC technology as well. I don't quite get the "cloaking" and "invisibility" references, but figure that's probably just marketing and it's over my head. Since the Chicoms seem to have the same idea, we should wait to see if they begin manufacturing military aircraft with the technology. I'm interested to see if it truly outperforms current RAM materials and techniques. It will be hard to tell since any peers we have in the field are probably not gonna talk about what they do in comparison. We will know anyway when Chip rolls out the real-world test results. I really hope we follow it here! Fascinating stuff!

Academics get ticked because I do live demos and videos. And patents. Only once in a while, I publish. Occasionally, if asked respectfully, to write a review, I will do it. My plate is full right now.

There's a nice review on cloaking--with data-- in the Jan 2015 Microwave Journal. It was the cover story.

Current RAM works really well. Even Y shield (available easily) is pretty good. But, in general, RAM is expensive, and even poisonous (I hear). I suspect the metamaterial stuff is being used in PRC to retrofit existing aerial and marine hardware for low visibility with respect to specific radar systems. These 'stealth skins' are pretty easily replaced.

    Many thanks.

GL to those who think PRC is living up to the 2015 'agreement' with President Obama against cyberspying. It was a problem before that --use your best judgement on whether it continues. BTW, if some people want to pose my comments as 'speculations' from an 'amateur'---see if I care. There's not a pejorative I haven't been called in 30 years and it does not disturb my focus.

The PRC is obsessed with stealth. They should be obsessed with neighborly relations and working towards a better world community. For a while, they seemed to be doing a pretty good job of the latter. So much for history.

    Below---old but makes the point:

    https://www.wired.com/2011/01/was-chinas-stealth-tech-made-in-america/

This is also old (and public) but interesting--- camo F117 mockup in PRC. The shadows make the F117 mockup visible from space.

You can SEE an F117 in Dayton Ohio at the AF Museum. This mockup likely exists for RCS calibration and testing--in PRC :-( They haul it into the building to measure RCS. So sayeth the 'speculative' 'amateur'.

SAME SHOT--- I have removed shadows...

    "That's ridiculous..."

Of course, the likely PRC view on such alleged crazy American conspiracy theories...'the alternative explanation that shows its a different technology from the "accused"', is that this is merely a

    WHATABURGER

sign, being built in preparation for mounting in Beijing.

    Of course!

Everyone take a great, collective S-I-G-H..... and a big, juicy BITE.

HERE'S an interesting photo from 2002 from FRACTAL ANTENNA SYSTEMS,INC. then in MALDEN,MA.

Given that that firm does NO BUSINESS with the PEOPLE's REPUBLIC OF CHINA, then or now,

WHY DO WE SEE --THIS-- as shown below, in PRC CHINA ON AN ASSEMBLY LINE in 2018???

Inquiring minds like ours WANT TO KNOW!

    Any 'elp?

From the specification of patent 10,030,917:

"The fractal cells may lie on a flat or curved sheet or layer or be composed in layers for wide bandwidth or multiband transmission."

"In some embodiments power control may be achieved by wideband absorption..."

    No-- CYLINDER.

    Yes-- ABSORPTION.

You are either not reading the patent ,or deliberately falsely stating what it says.

I expect you and your colleagues to publicly apologize for dishonoring me in this way, and bringing
false SHAME upon myself and my family.

Not to detract from Chip's excellent and "original" work, but while at RC I proposed a patent which used Pockel's Cell-like technology to do just this.

Exactly, prior art is usually referenced in any patent or publication.

    Why this major, glaring Omission?

I think the answer is clear.
