Bob McTait, G2BKZ, in Stevenage made contact with WB2PDW Mobile on 14286kHz at 2350UTC on the 5th of May. The contact turned out to be Vincent Diak's first SSB DX contact using a five-watt FT-817 transceiver to an Outbacker Perth mobile antenna - mounted on his bicycle. The bicycle has a battery-driven motor to assist the rider on gradients and a computer that determines when help is needed. Bob says that Vincent was clearly "over the moon in making his first transatlantic mobile QSO".
