Amp was listed for sale on another website. I responded to listed e-mail with some questions. Questions were answered. Made a deal. Paypal used for money xfer. Not heard from him again. Been doing this stuff many many years. Finally got GOT. Just beware.

Some details about this on QTH.com. Buyer paid with PayPal's "Friends and Family" per seller's request.

    Good detective work N3AB!

Was the below link on QTH the ad in question?

    https://swap.qth.com/contact.php?counter=1397700
    Aug 14, 2018 - Icom IC-PW1 HF/50 MHz solid state amplifier for sale in a fully-functional, Amp delivers 1kW+ on all bands 160m through 6m. These ICOM PW1 ...

If so, the ad has apparently been removed, but from the above link it looks like the scammer might have used this previous post for the description:

    https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?threads/icom-ic-pw1-hf-50-mhz-solid-state-amplifier.597293/

Anyway, for that kind of money, do some basic googling, ALWAYS talk to (not just exchange emails with) the seller, and NEVER NEVER NEVER use the Family and Friends option for a purchase!!!
