Best Analog Shortwave / HF Receiver Ever?

    The "best" that I have operated is my Icom R-9000. It is stable, sounds great, and is fun to use. I added a fan kit, that I think is mandatory, otherwise it doubles as a capacitor cooker.

    I find a R-8500 adequate but nothing to brag about on HF. I use it mostly well above that

    I also have an HQ-180A and it is very stable, and dial accuracy is exceptionally good for a general coverage radio. Probably the best SW receiver I have. Only drawback is, it is a PIA to align.
