Bertha L. Bacheller, KB8HAM SK Bertha L. Bacheller (Middag), age 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 1, 2019. She was born on July 15, 1923 to John and Ora (Howe) McCall in Muskegon. Bertha married John R. Middag on September 30, 1944 and he preceded her in death in 1967. She then married Leo Bacheller on November 24, 1989 and he also preceded her in death in 2017. Bertha enjoyed making ceramics, crocheting and sewing, even making most of the clothes for her kids. She was a member of Eastern Star; Genesis Chapter 88, Order of the Amaranth, and the Muskegon Ham Radio Club, call sign KB8HAM. Bertha was an avid Michigan sports fan and cheered on the Tigers, Pistons, and U of M, as well as being a Big Red fan for life. She cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. Bertha is survived by her children, Robert (Marcia) Middag, Edward (Barbara) Bacheller and Gordon (Judy) Bacheller; daughter-in-law, Kathy Middag; grandchildren, Robert Middag II, Gina Palarz, Suzann (Steve) Mullennix and Warren Bacheller, Shawn (Robert) Goff, Amy Bergren and Michael King (Lindsey); 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her son, Roger Middag; grandson, John Middag; granddaughter, Stephanie Bacheller; one great-grandson; and one brother and sister. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 5 at 11AM at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI, 49441.
