The weather was not kind to Belton sellers, or buyers this year. Of course, this is just my opinion/observation. Very few “tailgater” as the rain kept the lot puddled. Inside, some good items for sale. However, to my observation, it appeared that there were fewer sellers, less radio stuff for sale, and a smaller buying crowd. I was there early portion of event. Hopefully, it picked up later in the day. Still, I enjoyed the fest and continue to look forward to the next one in Belton.

I had a few items for sale at the event but left early. Small crowd due to weather for sure.

Looks like they missed getting published in QST this month. Perhaps that had something to do with the lack of sellers / attendees. I found out about it Thursday night on a local radio net, but it was just not in the cards to get up early and travel to Belton in the rain.

I had other commitments that kept me from going. It is had to pass on the spring Belton swap meet. Especially since there is usually a gun show going on in the other building at the same time.

A good friend and I get a couple of tables inside each time ( twice a year) the hamfest comes around. We have been going for many years. We both live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I stopped for coffee before heading out early Saturday morning. There was light rain falling. But, not too bad. I got back in my car and as I closed the car door, the bottom fell out of the clouds! The rain was so heavy I could barely see the QT fuel stop building I was parked in front of! I texted my friend and he said he couldn't get out of his house it was raining so hard.
We talked it over and decided that it would be safer to stay home. I couldn't leave the parking lot for nearly half an hour!
The rain finally let up enough that I could see well enough to drive the mile and a half back home. Once I got into my driveway the rain got heavy again. So I sat in my car for another 20 minutes and finished my coffee and Apple Danish.
Another ham I know that lives closer to Belton said that attendance was really poor. And that we really didn't miss anything.
I am hoping that the event this Fall will be better and the weather cooperates!
