Only of you don't have to clean up the mess (I'm looking at you RF Harris)

Though I forget the specifics, I was working on something or other transistorized on the bench when one of the electrolytics decided to unexpectedly launch. It hit the inside of the hooded inspection lamp, put a serious dent in the aluminum hood, and shattered the 60W bulb.

As @KL7KN noted, the mess was, well ... a mess.

Thank God I wasn't hunched over the chassis when that launch occurred. The dented lamp hood showed the potential for sustaining a crippling injury was very real.

    Two questions.

    PPE?

Do they know electrolytics are also available in much more interesting sizes?

    They got it wrong,

If you really want them to explode, just give them reverse DC voltage! I can't believe they put that expensive lens right in front with no protection on it at all -- a couple doofuses with money to burn I guess :p But at least they tried to keep a safe distance.
