The Bolingbrook Amateur Radio Society (BARS) has begun a nightly "Anti-Viral Net" at 1930 local/ 0030 UTC on the K9BAR repeater system: the 2 meter repeater 147.33+ offset and a PL Tone of 107.2 Hz and the 440 repeater 443.525 + offset and a PL Tone of 114.8 Hz. These repeaters are linked transmit and receive. Bolingbrook is a suburb of Chicago--about 30 miles southwest of the city. You can also join the net on EchoLink by connecting to K9BAR-R on Node 261875.

The net is the brainchild of Jaye / W9CY, Gary / AA9JS and Rob / K9NYO. Thanks to Greg / KD9LDD for naming the net (by vote of all on the net on 3/17/2020). This is an informal roundtable net so amateur radio operators who are at home during the pandemic can reach out to fellow hams and pass traffic of all kinds as well as chat about the day. Please join us.

We've done something similar here in Newton Iowa. We usually meet about three times a week for coffee and/or breakfast. Now with the Corona Virus thing going on, we brew our own Coffee at home and meet on the local repeater to chat. W0WML 147.030 114.8.
