Do you mean Menu 34 TDR-AB?
If so then read the menu definitions at http://www.miklor.com/uv5r/UV5R-MenuDef.php.
It does nothing unless you have Menu 7 TDR turned on.
I read someplace that TDR-AB does different things in different firmware versions.

Yes I refer to Menu 34 TDR-AB. I have Menu 7 TDR turned on but doesn't do any different selecting option. I read the manual but is not helping me. Thanks. 73.

I seem to recall, when you have the radio set to switch back and forth to listen to two different frequencies, the other setting determined if the A (top) frequency or B (bottom) frequency was the one you transmitted on.

This is the way it works on my UV-5R+Plus with Firmware version BFB293,
as shown on the display. I have not checked the Firmware version in CHIRP.
    http://www.miklor.com/uv5r/UV5R-FWRelease.php

With Menu 7 TDR set to ON, and Menu TDR-AB set to OFF:
Whichever side receives a signal, it will stay on that side to enable me to transmit a reply.
So, if it's listening to the A side and receives on the B side, it will stay on the B side,
so I can respond on the B frequency.
I can use the A/B button to switch between A side or B side.

With Menu 7 TDR set to ON, and Menu TDR-AB set to A:
If I receive a signal on the B side, it will automatically switch back to the A side to transmit.
Thus, I can only transmit a reply on the A side.
Using the A/B button will always go back to the A side.

With Menu 7 TDR set to ON, and Menu TDR-AB set to B:
If I receive a signal on the A side, it will automatically switch back to the B side to transmit.
Thus, I can only transmit a reply on the B side.
Using the A/B button will always go back to the B side.

Hope this makes sense to you.

Thanks all for the reply. I have Firmware version BFB298 and the answer to my question is
"TDR-AB function simply no longer worked"
    Thanks. 73!
