Does anyone have a stock baofeng bf-f8hp with firmware version hn5rv01? I programmed my radio using chirp and now I can't hear anything unless i am in menu or holding down moni. I realize now that I should have done an initial backup of my baofeng settings but I didn't unfortunately. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. I just got my license and really want to make a few contacts. Thanks.
Congratulations on the license! I think you'll find what you need here: https://www.miklor.com/uv5r/UV5R-Recovery.php
Unfortunately that miklor link doesn't have the firmware hn5rv01 Baofeng support is obviously no help.
Some (Many) of those radios have the Firmware in ROM. It is burn once, And can not be updated. That is what you get when you cheap out buying a radio. Are you sure you need the Firmware ? And not a Programming image ?
You should be able to , Remove the battery, Then wait a while. Reinsert the battery and do menu 40, 1 (Reset All) Power it OFF then back ON, Then read from radio using Chirp, Save that as a template. Then you can edit that image file and save it back to the radio. I find it best, Not to mess with Memory location 0 (Zero). For some reason that can mess things up. Start at the second memory location (1) in Chirp. Good Luck.
