my impression, maybe flawed, was that it was an East coast event mostly, because the activity I heard was mostly in 2, 1, 3, and 8 land. It's been reported in at least one shortwave broadcast trade pub. that China is grabbing vacated frequencies, including a couple formerly used by Australia's national shortwave broadcast agency. These frequencies are evidently brokered some how by international agreement. I think it is a mistake for the 1st world countries to let their frequencies go and rely entirely on satellites and internet.
Made a total of 75 contacts, 39 on 20 meters, 35 on 40 meters, and 1 on 75 meters. It was fun. I have been asked to do it again next year.
Wait... I was your only contact on 75m??? [NZ1N at that time] That surprises me, given all the great stations on the air that weekend.
