On 27/9/19 I grabbed the acma db they have for download. Having a quick look I am finding 326 call signs starting with VJ. With 30 of them 2x3 call signs. Basically would end up with a mix of amateur and non amateur that have the same format so can not immediately tell by looking at the call sign. Apart from that I am not against the idea. It will make it easier for foundations both digital and voice. From the wording looks like VJ was just an example. Interesting about the AX comments as there are non amateur AX call signs. With some of them having the same state and suffix as some VK so if those people use the AX version of their call sign they will be using someone else's call sign. I am still partial to the idea of area and class being encoded in the call sign.
