We're heading to Grand Teton NP in a few days and are planning to rent a motorboat and attempt to work some 20M SSB from Elk Island in Jackson Lake. Planned operation will be some time in the morning of Friday or Saturday - June 8-9. I'm a general-class licensee so will be between 14.225-14.350 Mhz (probably in the lower part of the band). Station is an 857D transceiver plus a 20M 1/4 wave vertical. (Buddipole 9.5' + 4 22" arms). Will call CQ until the family says "enough!" :)

Our 9 year old is interested in obtaining her license (and has already started studying). Hoping we can do some third party traffic so she can talk too. She was a trooper during winter field day.

    Thank you KC5AKB.

Turns out we didn't do enough research. A simple boat rental didn't allow us to step foot on the island.

Instead we operated from the shore on Jackson Lake. Many thanks to the operators who worked us. We talked until the battery died - not a bad day. :)
