    The cap in the AstronRS-35 is sized based on it's PEAK current ability (35 Amperes) NOT just it's continuous current capacity. (That's one reason WHY it has a higher peak capacity in the first place.:rolleyes:)

    One reason you don't see such high capacitor values in a "switcher" power is that their output is filtering a MUCH higher frequency ripple, so a lower capacitance is needed. Most switchers operate at 50 kHz or higher, which takes much less capacitance to reduce the ripple to the same amount as in a linear supply @ 60 Hz.
