How do I wire the 4-pin plug of the Astatic D-104 T-UP9 for use on the Kenwood TS-520S?
Pin 1 white audio +
Pin 2 PTT Red
Pin 3 Blue
pin 4 shield (audio -)
Black & yellow not used
I thought Black was PTT Ground. It would connect to pin 4, So that PTT current is not on the audio shield.
T-up9 Blue is PTT common,Shield is only audio -(Neg). On radios that only have 1 common ground for audio - / keying, the shield and blue are combined on that pin. On the older 4 wire T-ug8 stand Black is RX unless you throw the switch inside to relay, then it becomes TX common (no blue or yellow wire).
So Yes, IF it was one of the older style 4 wire mics, Black WOULD be the PTT common, BUT it goes to pin 3 not pin 4 (With the internal switch inside set to "R" relay)
