    If you want to get the most out of your training, you'll need to specify what you intend to accomplish and then measure your performance. That does not mean that you need a heavyweight formal exercise plan but developing a realistic understanding of your capability and performance starts with specifying just what you expect you'll accomplish in objective terms and then assessing how you did.

    As an example, I discuss the recent Ohio ARES VHF+ Simplex Contest.
