A fine time. They opened at 0900, so guests had time to travel in with out having to get up at oh dark thirty . Like most hamfests, they draw in people from around 150 mile circle. I still prefer the 'old days' when a hamfest started at 10 and ran until 2 pm. Plenty of time to travel in in the morning and home afterward. I stayed over night friday, which means that almost $100 that was NOT available to spend at the hamfest. Hamfests are not for 'locals'.. The draw should be from that 150 mile circle. For me, 110 miles to Superior,90 miles to St Paul, 100 miles to Wausau, 60 miles to Eau Claire or Hallie. Do the math, money spent on motels or restaurants doesn't get spent on radios.
