Are You New To The Hobby , Looking For QRZ Awards ....

I was talking to a new ham recently on 40m. He like
many other New and Seasoned Ham's are frustrated by
unconfirmed QSO's on QRZ. I have to admit I feel the
same frustration. I want to share with the New members
of this Amazing Hobby do not feel frustrated. We all know
and feel this pain but if you persevere your goals are obtainable.
As many of the non - confirming crowd there are, there are an
equal amount of us who will confirm. There is no need to diagnose
the why's or why not's of confirming or not confirming the contact.
It is what it is ...........

My personal experience as of today ......

QSO's 8666
Confirmed 4301

A little less than 50% today
Tomorrow it will change again

Now to me and me only
I believe the total should be 70%
But as they say
"It is what it is"

Now given this barely tolerable rate of confirmation
This is the icing on the cake

You’re here moaning about people not uploading logs to QRZ , yet you don’t log to LoTW???

Perhaps you should advise new hams to upload to LoTW and sync QSL’s from LoTW to QRZ to improve their confirmation rate.

I upload to QRZ, but the only QSLs I track are on Club Log and LoTW.

 

The only confirmation of any value is my QSL card from Helen and Clayton Howard, hosts of HCJB's DX Party Line. Still got it.

Meijer hosted English and Spanish versions of the show played over 15 hours on Sundays as it was broadcast
to different areas around the globe. Under his tutelage, the show pioneered live international phone-in shows.
However, its format remained largely musically based, Meijer's musical tastes were more contemporary than
Startz's and tended to be in the easy listening genre, with Meijer himself sometimes performing songs. World
music would also be played. Meijer also encouraged listener interaction with the show, with a mailbag segment
and a listener birthday feature, the Birthday Book, where he would wish read out the names of listeners whose
birthdays coincided with that week's airdate and wish them a happy birthday. Instead of Startz's "Nice Cup of Tea"
theme, animal farm segments, and Sousa marches, Meyer's era had "live shows from outside locations; travel
stories with sound effects, recorded on the spot by Meyer; dramatized Easter Egg Hunts; and to top it all: live
inter-continental telephone call-in shows" The show also ran a pen pal club encouraging listeners across
the world to write each other. The show was cut down from 80 minutes to 50 minutes in 1977, along with
other RNW programming. In the 1990s, Happy Station was again shortened in order to accommodate a Radio
Netherlands news bulletin at the start of the hour. Previously, Sundays were the only days on which RNW didn't
broadcast news bulletins.
