Hi everyone, I'm interested in using aprs for my truck. I did a web search on aprs tracker kit and came up with a few websites. Can anyone give me your experience with byonics or argent tracker.
    Thanks, Pete

Hi, I've bought many Byonics products. Generally pretty happy with them. I have a MicroTrak RTG in my truck. 10W is fine around town. Consider a better antenna if you're driving around hills and toilets. The 6 pin mini DIN comes apart easily in a mobile environment, find a way to really strap it down.

PS Once you get started... I keep a paper list of all my devices and SSIDs.

I have had extremely good luck with Byonics products. I would definitely recommend them. Do not forget that setting transmit tone levels (deviation) is CRITICAL to any tracker. If you don't have a service monitor, set the tracker to transmit test tones and monitor on a receiver. Back off the gain until the volume just starts to go down. If you overdrive the transmitter, the tones will be distorted and not decode on the other end.
