FWIW, my dad went through MCRD San Diego in the early 1960s and said that R. Lee Ermey's character was 100% spot on - and now we know why.
And it's beginning to SOUND like FaceBook as well with all the endless name-calling, backbiting, profanity and unnecessary bickering on these threads.

I thought about serving in the military myself at one point. The Navy wanted me pretty bad. They kept calling me on the phone and sending me letters because of my experience in nursing but my wife was not so fond of the idea of me leaving home to work on a hospital ship for months at a time.
On another note, I am glad we are having this online social interaction experience with one another.
