I doubt it. It appears crafted to deal with a present reality. MO.

Chip, it appears that at least some member of the 'self-proclaimed militias' are getting licensed (see the link below)...

Apparently, according to the caption under the Club House photo, the local club in my area has been helping them get licensed.

I have been a member of this club in the past and have been giving consideration to rejoining. I think now I shall not get involved....

    True.

That isn't what I was speaking of when I refer to "10 meter" radios. This is what I had in mind.. https://swap.qth.com/fcc/fcc-cbtable2.htm

Many of the models listed on that page are currently being offered for sale on Amazon.

The moderator doesn't want any of these 'political' discussions on a news thread, and whether or not I or others agree with that, I do respect the decision.

The point--and it is not a political point-- is that illegal activity should not be enabled by illegal use of radios. But clearly you and I get this...

Many of the PRC made radios fail FCC cert because they XMIT at frequencies that encompass several user allocations. You can't have a ham radio that also XMITS on police frequencies would be an example (if some don't 'get' the point of the thread...)

Coordinating an illegal event with legal users of ham radios is a different discussion..

Selling ham radios without a need to show evidence of a Part 97 license is also a different discussion.

Hope you are well; hang in there OM!

Ridiculous. These "patriots" were insurrectionists. Failed coups have consequences. This is just one.

Truth be known these radios should be intercepted at the border by Customs just like fake Louis Vutton knockoff handbags. Impossible task, I know.

As soon as I saw the headline I thought the same.

I wonder if they will do the same in other territories.

Personally, if I had my way, transmitters would be licensed like firearms.

You mean when they (Amazon) exercised their constitutional RIGHT to control what is done with (or on) the equipment they OWN? With the business THEY OWN?

Or are you saying a Baker has no choice or right to sell or not sell cakes to whom ever he/she wants?

    Okay, hypothetical 'thought experiment'...

You own and operate a Broadcast Radio station. I want to say something OTA on YOUR station. But, you don't like or support my message. But, the LAW says you must carry and broadcast MY message...

My friends, this is the definition of Socialism/Communism. Is that what you are advocating? Do you realize that you are calling for the Government to become MORE involved in peoples' (and businesses') lives? Isn't that antithetical to the Constitution and your own beliefs?

Apparently, some people do not understand the 45 words that comprise the 1st Amendment...

Exactly! PRIVATE forums (including this one) should have the exclusive RIGHT to allow/disallow what/who they wish. They pay the bills, they get to have the say so. No different than repeaters, reflectors, HAM networks: the owner has the ultimate CHOICE to allow/not allow one to use or not use it. That is TRUE freedom but so many short circuit at this. They claim their "right" somehow trumps the one who actually owns and pays for the platform, then want the government to sanction the lawful owner for exercising their right to use THEIR property the way they desire.

Billy Joel had it right "You can speak your mind, but not on my time"

What about Amazon's freedom of speech? What about their rights? Doesn't Bezos have rights to operate his business they way he sees fit?

Or are you saying a Baker does not have a right to sell, or not sell, cakes to whom ever he wishes? Are you advocating for a law to force him to make cakes for people he doesn't like or doesn't want to sell to?

Humm... That sure looks like Socialism or maybe even Communism to me...

The moderator is not censoring anyone; he's saying that it belongs elsewhere on the website--in 'political discussions' .

Proof of a valid amateur license should be required to purchase transceivers.

I remember specious arguments similar to this in the 60s regarding landlords who rented based on race, or sold food at racially-segregated lunch counters, etc. etc.
