Second time activating Summit Lake Peak W7W/RS-038 north of Mount Rainier in Washington State, and this was one of my top hikes in 2020. (Also POTA K-4530 Mt Baker Snoqualmie Nat. Forest) While hiking to summit, fun to make airplane QSO with W7NY while he was flying toward the Olympic Mountains at ~8,400 feet (approx. ~65 miles west of me…and very much appreciate him allowing me to use some of his video! Was very hot day, and had FT3D radio receive issues due to me updating radio or changing a setting(? I reset and reloaded radio image and appears to work now). Glad I’ve been bringing 2 HT’s due to testing, and Icom V86 and MFJ Long Ranger saved the day. Heat was getting to me, so kept VHF only this time… 73, James WA7JNJ
