It's not JUST eBay. There's a lot of overly ambitious stuff out there, everywhere.
Yeah, maybe. But I have never seen the rampant utter ignorance of what an item even is, to then have the hubris to list it at a B.I.N price that is ridiculous beyond words.
Craig's List and places like that sure - but not legitimate, knowledgeable businesses.
The tube. I Googled it and found it for sell for $38.00 at thetubestore.com
Or $4 NOS at most any ham fest
But certainly not $169
I see it all the time, everywhere. Some people are "overly proud" of what they're selling.
I think that they do that just because they can. Maybe hope some fool will fall prey to it. Maybe someone that needs to replace one immediately.
That's the only logical explanation. But "fall prey" is the key word.
Any fool and his money being parted at $169 for a 5U4 truly is a fool, IMO
There must be buyers waiting because we see so much of it, so often.
How about the "new" ham radio gear offered for way more than what legit retail companies get.
Who buys this stuff is the real mystery.
U talkin about Stormy?

The cap... google around a little. People are paying ridiculous prices for caps for audio... especially for tube amps. Old or NOS are considered the holy grail, apparently.
