Today Radio Caroline isnt a pirate station anymore. They are mostly broadcasting different webradios. At next the BBC given up different frequencies in the shortwave and medium wave range. So Radio Caroline got 2017 an official license for broadcasting at 648 kHz, which is an old BBC frequency. That they raise up the power at these old frequency is good news. Because many stations lost in the last years much listeners in this frequency range. At next the raising costs of energy for broadcasting made it not really attractive and lucrative for the owners of these stations. So many stations decided to give up here in Europe. And the shortwave became more and more quiet.

This is not correct. W2AN (Antinque Wireless Association) is NOT "re-enacting' the first (successful across the pond) transmission. They will be transmitting periodically during a multi-hour period.

You will notice by the commemerative stone that the 1921 station was by the Radio Club of America. "BUILT AND OPERATED...RADIO CLUB OF AMERICA."

The Radio Club of America is VERY MUCH ALIVE TODAY!

As one would expect, The Radio Club of America, with W2RCA, will be transmitting the single and only re-enactment to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first successful transmission across the pond. The Radio Club of America has already coordinated with the Antique Wireless Association to 'clear' this singular re-enactment.

The AWA is running a very nice exhibit on the centennial during this weekend and will attempt to get and keep a modified 100 year old reconstruction on the air. The RCA re-enactment is separate from other activities that other organizations are undertaking.

The first transmission made it across at 02:52 UT on Dec 12, 1921.

    One hundred years later---

W2RCA (the Radio Club of America)--- will be a QST --one way transmission from Connecticut --at 02:52 UT (Dec 12) on 1825 KHz on CW at 12 WPM. * WE WILL BE LOUD*. ALL ARE WELCOME TO LISTEN AND COPY! A certificate will be available for successful copy. Please see:
