Amateur Radio guide to Social Distancing “In the current climate, Social Distancing is very important and Keith G6NHU has put together a reminder for radio amateurs showing how to remember the recommended distance to keep apart” Thanks to Keith for some much-needed humour in these difficult times. We hope that it brought a smile to your face too. Makes you wonder if Covid-19 spreads less amongst HF operators and more amongst UHF operators Stay safe, everyone!
Was watching "Young Frankenstein" a couple days ago. In the scene where Gene Wilder is saying goodbye to Madeline Kahn (pretty close to the beginning of the movie), she won't let him kiss her on the lips (she's going to a party that evening and doesn't want to smear the lipstick), won't let him touch her newly-coiffed hair, and won't let him hug her ("Taffeta, darling."). So after several seconds of trying to figure out what's "socially acceptable", they decide to ... wait for it ... Touch elbows! Mel Brooks strikes again!!
And I always thought social distancing on 2m was "short time no comment"... learn something new everyday.
Excellent this idea. I think we radio amateurs won't get bored because of the output restrictions. Stay healthy, everyone. 73 from Bavaria de Bernhard - DC6MY
A few people have commented that this would look good on a t-shirt and I agree. I've made it available via Redbubble here.
You don' think that talking to someone thousands of miles away on HF is 'social distancing'? We have this social distancing thing down. ;-)
Actually, to follow CDC guidelines, just be sure to keep your frequency below 164 MHz (6 ft wavelength). But I guess if you want to stay legal, 2M would be the limit. Stay healthy.
