I have found an old AM-TX with its original modulator.
Can't find any useful info on the web about this tx.

Any help finding info and perhaps schematic would be much appreciated.

    /Mike

OK, nobody knows anything about this AM-TX.
Perhaps a few pictures can help.

There are three 6146 in the final and two in the modulator.
    What power can I expect?

I’d guess about 15 watts carrier, maybe 20.

Output is probably between 50W-200W PEP, depending on the exact design.

[edit] Taking the Amperage rating and assuming 24VDC nominal supply, 5A x 24V = 120W max power consumption for the unit. Output power must be lower than that.

That’s what I figured. A scope on the output while talking would confirm that guess.

It is actually 27.5V powering the Carter duovolt genemotor.
I don´t understand that 5A because the TX is fed 600V and 225V from the genemotor.
I suppose all filaments are series connected and powered directly from 27.5V.

I just need to get it running first.

I wish I had info on that unit, as it looks interesting!

Another way to guess about the output capability is to say that a pair of 6146s is good for about 50 watts of audio power and work it from there.

    (3) 6146s in the final section... 150 watts PEP as Bill was musing... 30 watts carrier? It’s aircraft quality stuff so I would expect the ratings and design to be conservative.

Somewhere in that area. It would be neat to see it go.

I will replace the genemotor with a normal psu and rewire the filaments for 6.3V.
The tx has a auto tuner.
There is a motor driven shaft running strait through the hole unit driving a capacitor and a variomat coil.
And one motor for the band switch.

.....and then there is the rx. I guess it will have to wait.

I doubt if published specs mention anything about pee-e-pee. It's not a slopbucket rig.

I’m just guessing at how much juice can go through it, sheesh.
