The CW (KY Cmd) selection is specifically for using with Elecraft, Kenwood and Flex-Radio radios. I see a Kenwood TS-870 on your QRZ page, so I assume that that is what you are using.

According this posting on How to use CW(KY CMD) with HRD/DM/780 with Kenwood Radios:

"Use the Radio Control “Configure” button to add a Keyer Speed slider so you can adjust your speed."

Now, I don't have a Kenwood, so I'm not sure what that actually means. But it was the only thing I could come up with.

My guess is that, in the CW (KY Cmd) mode, DM-780 only sends characters to a data buffer in the TS-870. The TS-870 then takes the characters from the buffer for transmit. So the TS-870 handles the CW Transmit Speed, not DM-780. It therefore has no need for a CW Transmit Speed control on DM-780.

The other CW selections on DM-780 have a CW Speed control.
