Thinking of purchasing an Acom 1010 but have two questions...

    1) I work a lot of CW, will it perform fairly rapid QSK without any modifications or "magic boxes"?

    2) Is there good protection for the exciter? If anything goes south in the amp (like tube flash over) can voltage feed back to transceiver through coax?

All I've read is that these rigs are very solid, but don't find these questions answered in literature.

    Thanks Harry,
I did finally find an old QST review (2006) which indicated that the 1010 does not have QSK (or at least at that time). I will shoot Val a note.

You can get an Acom 1000 used for less than 2K. It has QSK. I've got one coming in a week or so. Wanna buy my AL80B. It has the GOP board, plus the internal pin diode QSK board. It's quiet as a mouse. My TS2000 is noisier. Extra tube and other parts too.
