    A Famous Amateur Radio : N1UL, Dr. Ulrich Rohde !!

    There are a few famous hams , one is Dr. Ulrich Rohde, one of the founders of Rohde & Swartz, one of the world’s foremost test and measurement equipment companies.


    Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dr. h.c. mult. Ulrich L. Rohde is a partner of Rohde & Schwarz, Munich Germany; Chairman of Synergy Microwave Corp., Paterson, New Jersey; President of Communications Consulting Corporation; an honorary member of the Senate of the Armed Forces University Munich; honorary member of the Senate of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus–Senftenberg; and past member of the Board of Directors of Ansoft Corporation, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Rohde serves as an honorary professor at IIT Delhi, full professor at Oradea University, Romania, and visiting professor at Technical University Munich, Germany. Prior to Honorary Professor of RF and Microwave Technologies at the University of Cottbus, Dr. Rohde was a member of the staff at George Washington University (1982) and as an adjunct professor at the University of Florida, Gainesville, teaching in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences departments, gave numerous lectures worldwide regarding communications theory and digital frequency synthesizers.

    Dr. Rohde is an IEEE life Fellow, published more than 350 scientific papers in professional journals and conferences, co-authored 15 technical books and book chapters, and holds over 4 dozen patents.

    Dr. Rohde has received a number of awards.....

    Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Ulrich L. Rohde, DJ2LR / N1UL was the first to describe possibilities and perspectives of SDR in a congress lecture at the “Third International Conference on HF Communication Systems and Techniques” in London in February 1985 (classified).

    DJ2LR / N1UL, member of DARC Amateur Radio Club Munich South (C18) is recognized as one of the pioneers of SDR technology 35 years ago. In the 1970s DJ2LR was head of military equipment development at AEG/Telefunken in Ulm, where he was responsible for the construction of the AEG 6861 Manpack.

    Yes, but this tells us nothing of the man, the radio amateur, unless he is only the sum of his awards and honors!
