Seems this operation has it together on the twenty and 40 meter bands, rapid contacts and controlled pile up. However, on 80 cw it is a different story at least this past night. 9G5W called CQ said up as usual, lots of callers, he answered no one. Long gap, station showed up again and same thing. Eventually, they did the vanishing act, that was it, not sure what was going on it remains a mystery.

Big signal on 20/40 seems a little confused on 80, who knows?

Are you sure it was Ghana? Could have been someone messing around. Or, it could be technical problems, high noise level or just propagation.

Maybe he was on the wrong VFO? :)

So often the clown ops have some twisted fun by pretending to be the dx station. Perhaps, this was one of those instances. Never heard 9G5W again.

It could also be noisy band conditions. It may be close enough to their summer season to have local thunderstorms that generate lots of thunder crashes that 160/80 meters unusable.
