Which do you like better the 991 or the 7300??
love my 7300. i added a 991a for shack in box but the 991a display is useless
compared to the 7300. i returned the 991a at a $115 loss.
991a , you gotta look straight on or you cant see the full screen.
some find vfo a/b is goofy.
if/when yaesu fixes the 991a ill buy again...
u will love the 7300, feature packed and the display is like a lab instrument,
What's your need?
What's the RF scenario around you?
What's the kind of operation that you will do; desktop or field?
Is VHF/UHF a must?
Are you tech savvy?
Will you attach a computer to it?
Can you write automation around your transceiver?
What's the importance of buttons?
What's the importance of the screen size?
What's the importance of the front-end performance?
What's the importance of the eye-candy?
What's the importance of the warranty?
Weight all of them, research, ask questions, and make an well-informed decision.
Considering MY needs and challenges, this is the reasoning behind my choice:
Otherwise, buying a transceiver just because of the more clicked option is ill-made decision.
Before any of you grumpy OFs start to rail on KD2UHF's posts, make sure you look at his QRZ page.
Keep up the good work Teddy!
I own and enjoy a 7300. Lots of bang for the buck in that radio...
At this moment I am not shopping for a radio but I just wanted to see which one was the favorite. Because I have been seeing a reoccurring debate on which one is better.
For VHF/UHF the 991A is great. If you spend most of your time on SSB you will likely be happier with the 7300. The screen on the 7300 will spoil you and is much easier to find signals on and I think the RX is more sensitive. I had both for a while. I like the 705 better than both of them now.
Not attracted by the touch screen radios, or smart phones for that matter ( I've got dumb fingers I guess). Given a choice of those two, I would go for the 991A. You can always add an external sdr and much larger monitor if you want a waterfall.
Nice radio and will fit your needs
for many years. GL/73
