HF OPS, please note John KB5NJD's conditions report of "slight growl" in his receive. Followup from John: "figured out the source of the growl. Its KE7A.. he is so strong he is driving my active antennas into non-linearity... didn't realize until I saw him on my RBN waterfall..."

Fellows, Dick KE7A and John KB5NJD are 28 miles from one another and have been dutifully reporting their regular weekend ground wave QSO's as 599+. But clearly the RST doesn't fully describe how strong they actually are on each other. John continues, "being 30 miles away is like living on the same street down the block on 472, was not hearing him on the loop, which he is in the null of."

We know 630m ground wave works very well between regional neighbors. But we can't find out how well until we give it a try. So if you are interested, talk it up with local friends and see who else may be interested. It's not hard to put something on the air. In my opinion, you won't need much of a station on either end to have solid success locally. And of course the band opens every night too.

Fellows, another encouraging 630m ground wave report came my way this week from Roy G4CLO via Slack #khz.

Roy takes part in an ongoing inter-UK GW net every Sunday morning on 473khz with 4 or 5 CW operators active generally. The net has 3 regulars and are all about 80-100km apart, with signals usually 579-599 depending on who is transmitting. QSB at that time of day is minimal.

Roy's net is a significant and ongoing 630m ground wave activity. If you know of any other 630m ground wave activity that has so far not been mentioned here, please post as you see fit. ALL REPORTS MATTER. Thanks in advance, Clark AA8SH
