    Hi Everyone!
I've been thinking about it for a while - but I think I'm going to build a 40m foursquare. I'd like to make the verticals myself - as I don't have a lot of cash. At the same time - do it right, not twice as I live in New England! I know what happens when things are built to be "temporary"! Does anyone have plans or a design for a free standing (unguyed) 40m 1/4 wave vertical? They will be mounted about 8~ feet up on 4X4 posts in concrete. I'd like to make them all identical, and do so fairly cheaply.
    Thanks,
    Marty

Would telescoping sections of DXE 6061 tubing suffice? Another thought is fiberglass poles with 14 ga. wire inside, but might not hold up to severe weather like you have up there. Either wouldn't be terribly expensive, at least.

Yes, I don't think fiberglass will play well around here. Does DXE sell them in kits?

3' or 6' lengths slotted on one end for hose clamps.

Do you think I should taper at all? I think WB2WIK had mentioned it before.

Take a look at Maxgain systems. They have pushup masts that might do the job at a reasonable price.

Aren't they fiberglass? I'll look, as you know NE weather, but that sounds risky.

Not sure but I think they sell both---fiberglass would work with a wire running up them in any case. (you could use more than one wire a la cage vertical for more bandwidth, too).
