I prefer to hear a voice and make a ssb qso instead of watching on a screen and seeing my computer make a qso with 3y0k or a pirate.

There will be a humongous pileup and they will not be on their normal frequency a little bit down the band.
And normally the pileup would die down a little when the dx is transmitting. That can't happen in DQRM mode.

    The reasonably-expected outcome?
Those with totally random timing, absolutely no listening skills, most money & highest power, and no DXing proficiency will be rewarded at
an equal or higher rate than disciplined, courteous, and experienced operators.

Keep hitting that "F3" macro with the sledge-hammer, Boys. You're now a DXer, and a CW Man, to-boot.

It's their operation--They call the shots. None of my business.

    I have a 3Y0 card
    I'm out.

That is in fact the truth, the SSB pile-ups are already a jungle even with good operators at the helm. If nobody is there to listen to, it will be exacly what you describe.

I wish there was some way other than Facebook to get the latest info about their active frequency and mode.

Glad I have Bouvet confirmed on multiple bands and both CW and SSB. I won't be inviting a raise in blood pressure by trying to work this DXpedition

RBN should pick them up regardless the frequency being used.

Now listening on 21.05 mHz at the absurd pileup. All the crappy DQRMers, those having no clue about split, and the frequency police. As always, a disgrace.

No idea why the DXpedition spends all that money and risks life and limb to put up with these mental midget losers.

Agreed. Even on Facebook there are multiple sources of (mis)information - which one should I follow? What 's the source of "real" news?

    Clublog Livestream for the win.

I wish every DXpedition used ClubLog Livestream. The benefits are many. It won't solve "mental issues" cases but help the "sane".

The thing I always wonder is: for the VAST MAJORITY of hams in the pileups for these rare DXpeditions, how many actually NEED the particular DX entity?

Why beat your head against the wall of DQRM for an entity that you will likely never "need"? How many hams with a basic DXCC or maybe 200 confirmed put themselves through that misery when there are TONS of entities they've never worked that are far easier targets?

At age 64, with my 229 LoTW confirmed and 231 QRZ confirmed counts, I very likely will never "need" Bouvet as I very likely will never cross the 300 mark in my lifetime. No sense getting crazy about "the one that got away".

At least that's how I look at it.... but maybe I'm not a "true DXer"

    Update II

The team is building 20, 30, 40, and 160-meter antennas during the remaining 4 hours of daylight.
More Yagi antennas will be set up tomorrow, and the KW amplifiers will be used.
Please remember that logistical conditions here change rapidly, and the team is doing everything possible to support the DX community. Negative comments will not change anything.
The QRV will be posted when it is ready.

Indeed, if only we could put more effort into helping the sane instead of all the effort to engineer new and novel ways to punish the "wicked"... at the expense of the sane.
