ACTUALIZACIÓN 17 setiembre 2024 ---> https://ea1cs.blogspot.com/2023/10/3y0k-bouvet.html Inglés This is a challenging project logistic wise where vessel and helicopter must be coordinated, and the contracts placed sufficient time ahead. We have studied various offers for boat and helicopter services, in line with the scope of this project. Due to the postponement from 2025 to 2026 we also had to renegotiate the terms. We are now in the final stage of negotiating the vessel and helicopter contracts for the 3Y0K Bouvet Island DX-pedition anticipated for 2026 www.3y0k.com We have agreed on the important price elements in these contracts, and will release more info once we have all details completed. For now we aim to fully finance this trip upfront. This is a major DX-pedition where we also team up with a small private group to share the cost and risk for this DX-pedition. In addition the funding of this trip significantly depend on us building a team of 20 operators to finance the budget. We’re 14 operators and are actively looking for another 6 operators to complete the team. As we are approaching the final stage of the negotiations we are again reaching out to anyone who wants to join our team to participate in this one in a lifetime adventure. We estimate to stay around the island for 21 days and the total duration should be around 40 days. Should you wish to join our team please contact admin@3y0.no or Cezar VE3LYC directly. For Peter I we are still looking for another 3 operators before the team is complete. 73, 3Y0K team

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In one year, on February 1, 2026, we will be setting off from Cape Town to Bouvet Island. Follow our adventure on 3y0k.com with Icetugs and Ultimate Aviation. Preparations are moving forward at full speed. https://ea1cs.blogspot.com/2023/10/3y0k-bouvet.html
As previously stated elsewhere, Ice-Tugs and Ultimate Aviation are both very capable outfits and the presumed support vessel Argus is well suited to the task. However, due to a loophole in Norwegian legislation there is presently still no entry permit or statutory government safety review of any kind required to enter Bouvet Island. Unlike all other Southern Ocean islands where strict review & entry permit regimes are in place, Bouvet Island is effectively the 'Wild West' where anyone can go and do whatever they like, just as long as they stay away from the small Norwegian Polar Institute facility at Nyrøysa on the Island's North West coast. There are several critical logistics & safety issues that Organizers need to publicly address if they expect to attract serious public support & donations and wish this proposed DXpedition to a very hazardous and potentially very dangerous place to be afforded genuine respect and credibility. Here's a few queries for starters: * What type of helicopter and how many? ("helicopter" is stated in 3Y0K's press release, implying only one). * How many on-air stations proposed? * How many tons of radio/antenna/generator gear, camping equipment, fuel & supplies cargo for up to 48 participants staying on the Island does that involve? * Are there any doctors or other para-medical personnel on the Team? * What will the 24~30 'Private Group' participants be doing for 3 weeks? * What polar field experience and Search And Rescue capability & capacity do participants have? * Does the Project carry emergency rescue/evacuation insurance and where do Organizers assume such assistance would come from in the event of serious mishap whilst at the Island? * Has ARRL already issued a LoTW certificate? (Thereby tacitly approving a very risky & potentially very dangerous venture indeed). There are several more, but that will perhaps do for now. Interesting that public comments regarding 3Y0K/L on several other DX Media outlets are already being blocked or have been turned off completely. One has to wonder why and how long before QRZ Forums goes the same way. Organizers soliciting for public support and donations should have no problem addressing valid concerns and responding to reasonable & sensible public queries if they are entirely comfortable with their own organizational abilities and fully confident of their own local area knowledge & expertise. I already privately donated $$$ over a year ago as a gesture of goodwill which unfortunately did not allay any concerns at the time. However if 3Y0K/L Organizers are able to satisfactorily address reasonable and valid queries such as those listed above, then I'll be more than happy to donate a further $$$$, thus becoming 3Y0K's first Century Club Platinum Donor. In the meantime, the silence is deafening. Feel free to share. 73 DE VK0LD / VK6CQ PS: A Bouvet helicopter permit is not an entry or landing permit; it simply allows use of a helicopter whilst there and anyone can easily apply for one online. A real helicopter or even just a pilot's licence is not even required to obtain one, as 3Y0J has already demonstrated. Similarly, any 3Y0 licence issued for Bouvet by the Norwegian Telecom Regulator simply allows establishment and operation of an amateur radio station on the Island; nothing more. In other words, neither of them are official entry permits per se and to imply otherwise is disingenuous and misleading. PPS: Argus is an 'A1-Super' ice-strengthened 48-passenger general crew/cargo vessel registered in Denmark; it is not an icebreaker. IceTugs' other vessel Mars registered in Belize is similar.
What are the 'small private group' going to be doing for 21 days on the Island whilst 3Y0K is QRV? Are they going to be camping on the Island as well? Are they going to be wandering around the Island, climbing ice-cliffs, rock faces, attempting to circumnavigate the Island in kayaks etc.? Do any of their activities pose any risk to the DX-pedition having to QRX or QRT to do Search & Rescue if someone in this 'private group' gets into difficulties?
