Best of luck to them. Hope they are safe, first and foremost.

 

I will be looking forward to contacting them....Just hope the radio police aren't on there yelling at people saying: "HE IS USING SPLITS PAY ATTENTION"!!!. 99.9% of the Ham's will figure out after they don't hear anyone calling and he is answering people.... that obviously he / or they are using splits.....Good luck to the team going to the island doing this expedition.

Can't help to feel some lack of commitment from all parts involved (too many parts?) will not say any of them aren't technically the best for the job, radio operators, sailors, management staff, engineers, etc... albeit, amateur-radio could at times be written amateur-radio.
Not as if you were thousands supporting THE Bouvet Expedition.
Too bad for the adventure spirit, gone, vanished into thin ether, and you hoped for months in vain.

In many aspects of our hobby, we, we remain humble adventurers on a day to day basis.
