I got a cute little Radioddity quad band $100 radio for a Go Kit. It has 2M, 1.25M, and 70Cm. However, it also has 350-390Mhz. This is NOT a US ham band AFAICT. Is it even legal to sell in the US? Looks like those are mainly military frequencies. I am going to hook up a dummy load and see if it transmits on that band to satisfy my curiosity....

    Government fixed and mobile AM/FM

(335-400) The FAA provides air traffic control communications to the military services on selected frequencies in this band.

225 - 380 Mhz Military UHF Aircraft - mostly AM mode 25 Khz steps
380 - 406 Mhz Military UHF Trunking - FM Narrow Band 12.5 Khz steps

Word to the wise and a paragraph to the dim:

If you want to satisfy your technical urges and "see if it transmits on that band to satisfy my curiosity" after hooking-up a dummy load, you had better
pray you own the world's best dummy load and your awesome General Class technical acumen ensures you radiate nothing. As in zero. You won't be merely contravening
FCC regulations ; you'll be committing a Federal felony. That frequency range is routinely utilized for ground-to-air air traffic control from
both civilian FAA facilities and military facilities; MARSA ("Military Assumes Responsibility for Separation of Aircraft) and aircraft-to-aircraft communication.
Checking your location, you are within close proximity to Joint Base Lewis-McChord (formerly McChord AFB) and Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.

    United States Code-- 18 USC {} 32

    "(a) Whoever willfully-

    (5) Interferes with or disables....with a reckless disregard for the safety of human life, anyone engaged in the authorized operation of such aircraft or an air navigation
facility aiding in the navigation of any such aircraft

    (8) Attempts or conspires to do anything prohibited under paragraph (1) through (7) of this subsection shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than
    twenty years or both"

"Such aircraft" is defined in Para. (1) as any aircraft within the "Special Aircraft Jurisdiction of the United States". This is defined in the United States Code to include
any civilian US-registered aircraft or any aircraft of the US Armed Forces.

Well, at least he'll have an interesting story when his cellmate asks what he's in for.
