The annual Electric Radio Heavy Metal Rally, which is 34 years old, is scheduled for January 6, 2024. Note that it is a "friendly" 75 meter AM activity that is intended to showcase classic, high power AM transmitters running the full legal limit. However, any AM transmitter is welcome. So if you have a rig that has an AM button or a mode switch position that says AM, come on down and play AM radio on 75 meters. The activity typically begins at local sunset and is a 75 meter phone event. Activity will be anywhere within the phone portion of the band. NOTE: When tuning up your high power AM transmitter, there is a tradition when yodeling into the microphone as you make adjustments. The operator must wear a red vest, yellow bell-bottoms, and a black hat with flowers. Shoes and socks are optional but if you're running an open frame high power AM transmitter with questionable insulation on the goesinto cables and the goesouto cables, they are recommended. Stimulating beverages can also be consumed, but not required, during the event to further enhance the "friendly" 75 meter AM activity.
