    23cm has a ton of activity here four times a year, for the VHF-UHF contests.:)

    There are weak signal "nets" on SSB but antennas that actually work are so narrowly focused that usually everyone aims at "net control," who rotates his antenna frequently to pick up others, and it's rare that the joiners can even hear each other. But it does allow stations to test their stuff and assure it works. Radio gear in storage often doesn't work when pulled from the closet...:p

    VHF-UHF contest "rovers" almost all have something for 1.2 GHz, and that's become a really popular sport.

    Thank you, I did not know about Alinco. I am not so sure the DJ-G7 is still manufactured, however. It was first brought to market in 2009 and the European version is officially out of production.
