The fourth annual AM Rally operating event is in four weeks!

    0000Z Saturday February 1 - 0700Z Monday February 3

    ( 7:00pm EST Friday January 31 - 2:00am EST Monday February 3 )
    ( 4:00pm PST Friday January 31 - 11:00pm PST Sunday February 2 )

The annual AM Rally operating event, held on the first weekend in February, encourages all operators to explore amateur radio's original voice mode by showcasing the various types of AM equipment in use today ranging from early vacuum tube rigs to the newest SDR based transceivers.

"There's a noticeable surge in the use of the AM mode, partially driven by the growing attention manufacturers are giving to it over the past few years. Both new and experienced ops are discovering that AM can sound quite good, enhancing the enjoyment of QSOs. The AM Rally operating event provides a great reason to give it a try".

This event is open to any and all radio amateurs who are running full carrier amplitude modulation (standard AM), using any type of radio equipment. Modern, Vintage, Tube, Transistor, Software Defined, Military, Boat Anchor, Broadcast, Home Brew or Commercially available radio are encouraged to join in on the AM fun on the 160, 80, 40, 20, 15, 10, and 6 meter bands.

"Those who have never tried the AM mode will find plenty of help if needed. AMers are an inviting group who enjoy welcoming newcomers".

I'll activate the Northern marine radiotelephone on board the SS Red Oak Victory. Probably also the TS570 and several other rigs.

    Looking forward to this event!

good catches, thanks for posting. these days propagation is such that I can't even hit a flyover state from here, so EU is out. But the Antique Wireless event sounds great, perfect for K6YVM.

ROVARC folks are excited about AM Rally this weekend. We made final preparations and tests today. Hoping for more QSOs this year than last year, just 4 in 2 days. But we had the beer and pizza thing really going. This year I think radio activity will be truncated on Sunday afternoon because of football. Red & White vs. White & Red.
