My 1st key was the cheapie model below. I was happy enough with it at the time and still use is for experiments and stuff. The knob, of course, I made with my 3D printer.

The first key I owned, in 1977, was a Canadian military field radio key made by Westclox. I bought it from Fair Radio Sales for about $2.00. I took it out of the housing and mounted it to a piece of wood, and tossed the housing and straps into the trash. It was a lousy key, but it was affordable to a poor college kid. I got rid of the key decades ago, but I still have the cord and plug (which are now attached to my Lionel J-38).

In a fit of nostalgia, I bought this one a few months ago off eBay. It cost me $30.55 plus shipping, but it's in great overall condition. Nice addition to my key collection, despite the high cost. I love the 1957 date on the tag!
