Marconi used 27.185 Channel 19 to make the trip. He borrowed a rig from Tesla, but he did supply his own antenna.
Marconi was raised in Bedford, England by an English-speaking mother. He attended university in Italy. Much of his business life was in the UK. He alternately resided in both the UK and Italy though much of his life. There is nothing suspicious in him demonstrating native proficiency in both English and Italian.
