GOOD LUCK, after reviewing my logbook only 10% were 17 meters. Most were either 10 or 20 meters, a few on 40. That's phone contacts you may get more on FT-8 or CW. Ya don't know until you try!

Just point you antenna South midday, transequator is happening everyday on 17 meters. The signals might be weaker but they seem to be stronger in the past 2 years with the addition of good F and F2 occasionally.

Even during the last two solar minimums I've been able to work transequator almost any afternoon on 17m,
The signals are weak but they're always there. With many good stations and operators located in South America. Just listen, they are calling CQ all the time on 17, unless there is a strong F layer expect S3 to S5 signals, but it's very usable.

My experience is when you start hearing a few Brazilians the band is open to Central and South America.

As an added bonus most of them do you confirm on QRZ
    Have Fun and good DX

I remember the days when Equatorial Propagation was 20/9 on a Daily Basis.
Those days are over but I continue to call CQ

Just keep spotting yourself on QRZ (DXWATCH) and maybe a DX station will hear you! We're what halfway thru this solar cycle? It will too soon fade away.
