The first transcontinental telegram was sent via the telegraph in the United States, effectively bringing to an end the Pony Express.
The Pony Express which was a business failure blazed a trail into history that is a big deal locally with original Home Station #1 in Marysville and the only original unaltered relay station outside of Hanover called the Hollenberg Station. Each year that they hold a Pony Express Festival at the Hollenberg Station since 2000 K0NK runs a special event station using the K0ASA call and sets it up as a mock telegraph station.
