New antenna up and tuned. First two contacts in the books thanks to cw ops in Puerto Rico and Colombia.

    Cool band.

I heard some contest traffic on 15m yesterday and called CQ on a different frequency. No one answered but I got spotted in New Zealand.

This band is underappreciated. Let's show it more love!

    How long did you call?

With the SFI near 100, expect to hear 3-4 continents nearly every day. This past week there has been SA, NA, OC, and occasionally AS and AF cw activity on 15m. It's a great band.

    Hi,
    you got spotted

    OE9GHV [IMG] KD2RDG 7005.0 CW CQ 10 dB 21 wpm 0159z 11 Sep
    OE9GHV [IMG] KD2RDG 14026.0 CW CQ 10 dB 21 wpm 2334z 07 Sep

that is 69.4 mi ( 111.7 km) from me.

But I am UTC + 2H so I sleep at that time. And 10 db is quite challenging.

When I fish Oregon rivers, it takes 3 minutes to assemble my rod, select bait, and slip it on the hook, then cast. I never hope to get a bite in the 2 minutes left.

It seems there's an inverse relation between the number of spots you get when you call and how long to call before throwing in the towel. The fewer spots, the longer you need to call CQ. Big sig guys need fewer. When prop is good, 10 minutes of CQ on one frequency is the least I'll try, 15 mins is better. If sigs I hear suggest the band is open I QSY a few kHz and try again for another 15-20 mins. Persistence pays!
