I read that, but its not explaining what SWL'ers need to actually to do to qualify their logging. Are we supposed to just log the state when we hear someone make contact with it? Thats what counts?
Log the stations you heard with info asked for on log sheet. Then follow certificate and qsl card request information.
It's not easy, that's for sure! New York was my last one to find and he was being down right sneaky! Got him at the last minute.
I'm really excited about this one. I wish it was going on right now. Seeing a new certificate and QSL cards arrive in the mail always puts a smile on my face.
I participated last year and had a great time hunting and learning about the event. I'll be hunting this year as well.
Enjoy chasing the stations on CW and Phone. Got a Clean Sweep Certificate (I think) buried in my pile of wall decorations. I'll be at it again.
A couple of years ago I sat down in front of the rig with no intention of participating in this event. Next thing I knew within 24 hours I had worked all 13 and the bonus stations. Got the certificate. It's a fun event, everyone should give it a try.
I'm feeling excited and pretty well confident about it. I got all 16 on the Lewis and Clark event and I'm hoping to repeat that on the 13 colonies. Sweeping it on multiple bands would be sweet.
The log sheet link is working for me using Google Chrome. Tried the link this morning 22:27 6/24/25 Cheers Frank KG4IGC/K2L
Great event. You shuold stimulate operators to go to split operation when a pileup is formed, dx stations will appreciate that. A web based realtime log would also be very useful, as used by many european events. It would prevent us to produce a hand made log without checking if the QSOs where really validated. Furthermore, online OQRS for cards and printed certificate submission with payment via Paypal would also be a great advance. Sending green stamps via regular mail is a bad habit from the last century. 73, Hilton - PY2BBQ.
When I was the QSL manager for South Carolina (K2L), I used the combined electronic logs from all SC stations to match to QSL cards received. QSLs from each individual K2L station (i.e. for a contact using their personal call) were handled by each station. The handmade logs are not checked or validated and are processed on the honor system.
Best Wishes to Tony Jones, who is taking over the reins of this great special event this year. Thank you to Ken Villone for his diligence in making this a premier event each year in the past.
