    These "leafs" have metallic supports inside, so I think they won't add to antenna gain or directionality.

    Aw, darn!

    Now, I will have to spend a few hundred dollars more to have them replaced with all plastic, like the kind they use in radar radomes, that don't attenuate HF.

    On 10m what couldn't be an antenna? When I was a novice, my dad once loaded up my bike on 10m to prove the point that if it's metal and you have a good enough tank circuit, you can load anything.

    I'd install an inverted V and use pulleys and counterweights to keep 'er tight. The bodies of the HOA officers and neighborhood snitches work pretty well as counterweights. <grin>
