So look for price cuts on the 3000 and 5000 series?

The FTDX101D was originally announced at the 2018 Hamvention in Xenia, Ohio with a "projected retail" of about $3K. Look like that may have climbed a bit. Looks like a 100W twin receiver with 3 antenna ports.

Looks like the MP version is basically the same radio with the larger PA. Any suggested retail?

Meanwhile, over at Kenwood, "The only way to achieve these numbers is by using a down-conversion scheme."

An SDR that looks like a radio? With knobs and buttons and all that?

This is why ICOM is playing the 7700 replacement close to their proverbial chest. It will be interesting to see what a IC-7710 will offer.

Looks like the plastic stereo I had in 1972. I liked it then because plastic was affordable as a kid.
46 years later, not so much....

If they offer a 7710 in a SDR, that would be very interesting. Hmm.....

What do the design engineers hope to accomplish with a 200 watt transmitter marketed to US shores? 35 to 50 watts is all that is needed to drive most modern amplifiers to their full output. The difference between 100 and 200 watts is barely perceptible in real-world conditions, and certainly won’t be of much help in large pile-ups or contests either.

Not an SDR - it's a traditional transceiver with SDR functionality. A true SDR has no knobs.

Yeah but a TRUE radio HAS KNOBS!! ;)

I'll be watching this one closely. An extra 100 watts might not mean much in the real world but it's still more than you'd have without it.
